Social Problems

During the course of the semester the student will choose a social issue they regard as problematic that is not specifically (or fully) addressed in class and write a 5-6 page, double spaced, 1” margins, 12pt font social analysis paper of this topic.  A social analysis of your chosen topic should provide a description of the nature and scope of the problem, a sociological exploration of the social factors or conditions involved in its cause and continuation, and a set of recommendations regarding how the issue may be constructively addressed.  You will be expected to support your description, evaluation, and recommendation with properly cited and referenced scholarly material.
